The Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing (JKAN) is the official peer-reviewed research journal of the Korean Society of Nursing Science (KSNS) and a scientific journal that seeks to promote the development and dissemination of knowledge that is directly relevant to all spheres of nursing practice, policy, and professional issues. The JKAN provides a forum for original research and scholarship in the areas of clinical scholarship, health policy and systems, profession and society and world health. The JKAN aims to support evidence informed policy and practice by publishing high quality research papers to report research findings, reviews and discussion papers, editorials which are of interest to an international readership of practitioners, educators, administrators and researchers in all areas of nursing, and letters to the editor.

The ISO abbreviated title of the journal is J Korean Acad Nurs. This journal is publish 4 times per year (Feb 28, May 31, Aug31, Nov 30). JKAN became an open-access journal from December 2013 (Vol. 43 No. 6) and articles are made freely available online to read, download, and share, immediately upon publication. Authors or funding agencies/institutions need to pay a fee to allow perpetual unrestricted online access to their published articles to readers globally, immediately upon publication. Articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons License Attribution-No Derivative, which allows readers to disseminate and reuse the article, as well as share and reuse of the scientific material.
